We include training on the same day as the installation of your new underground dog fence. Our training program and products are designed with LIMA Principles to ensure a tailored training experience for your dog. We train your pets on their new boundaries and guarantee they will be off-leash before we leave! More importantly, we train you on what to expect, and how to use the system. We’ve never had a dog we couldn’t contain, and we’re committed to pet safety and customer satisfaction.
A Dog Guard outdoor electronic fence is simple, but highly effective: All it takes is a wire, a transmitter and receiver. Then, with training from our experts, your dog will be free to roam and explore—safely.
Customer service and pet safety are extremely important to us which is why dog training is included with every dog fence installation.
We will train your pet the day of installation. We use a two step process involving a tone, flags and verbal command prior to giving any correction. Once your dog understands the audio and visual cues, we slowly introduce correction to ensure they receive only as much as necessary to deter them. Our system uses a graduated field, so the correction would get stronger if your dog decided to wander further. This, along with the professional training, are what ultimately dissuade your dog from leaving their yard.
As your dog becomes familiar with their new boundaries, we begin to ween them from the visual cues (flags). They’ll begin to mark areas that they’re comfortable in, and will start integrating their own ‘sniff’ cues - this is where your dog will really start to flourish. We’ll have you remove the flags over the course of the next few weeks (sometimes more quickly, depending on your dog’s progress) and our follow up team will ensure you’re seeing progress throughout the post-training period. We provide helpful post-training videos for owners who would like them, and are always available for questions by phone or email.
Our trained specialists will work with you and your pet throughout the entire process to make sure your dog is adequately trained, and that you are 100% confident in operating your system. We are not satisfied until you are.
All dogs we work with will be off-leash the same day we install your fence! Other companies may try to convince you that your pet needs weeks of hands-on training - they absolutely don’t, and doing so will only hamper their progress. This may seem intimidating, but the training for your dog is far less important than the training we provide you - there is no sense in having a system working flawlessly if you’re not confident in using it or comfortable operating it. We’re confident that you’ll be amazed at how quickly your dog understands their new boundaries, and how quickly you come to fully trust Dog Guard to keep them safe.
We train the dog so you don’t have to! When it comes to training, we play the ‘bad guy’ so you can be the ‘good guy’! All we ask is that you spend time in the yard with your pets after we train, just like you normally would! We’ll give you tips and tricks to get everyone up to speed quickly, but your part in training is simply being present in the yard. After 24 hours post-training, your dogs can be in the yard unsupervised entirely.
We recommend removing every other flag 7 days after installation. After another 7 days, you’ll remove every other remaining flag, and after 7 more days you’ll remove the remaining flags entirely. The whole process takes 21 days, and is designed to train your dog to scent versus a visual cue. It is important not to take them all out at once or the dog can experience setbacks with their training.
We’ll help find the right solution and train your pet to stay safely in the yard!
